PrF / Direction

Reality was moving before man named it.

Before morality.

Before religion.

Before politics.

Before civilization.

Reality was already producing states, preserving some structures, destroying others, and building new capacity from what survived.

PrF calls the governing distinction:

Forward / Drag.

  1. Early universe
  2. Stars
  3. Planets
  4. Earth
  5. Life
  6. Consciousness
  7. Man
  8. Civilization
  9. Technology

An illustration of increasingly complex structures emerging — not a claim of inevitable progress. Extinction, collapse, waste, and dead ends are part of the same history.

Man arrived late.

01What is Forward?

  1. State
  2. Capacity
  3. New structure
  4. More reachable states
  5. Continuation

Forward is the direction in which a structure preserves, builds, integrates, or transforms the conditions required for further coherent possibility.

Forward is not simply growth.

Cancer grows. Empires grow and collapse. Addiction can strengthen itself.

Forward asks whether the movement can continue without recursively destroying the conditions supporting it.

Forward builds the capacity for further Forward.

02What is Drag?

  1. State
  2. Consumption
  3. Fragmentation
  4. Capacity loss
  5. Collapse

Drag is Forward’s structural shadow.

It appears when a structure fragments, consumes, traps, or destroys the conditions required for further Forward.

Drag can still grow. Drag can still be powerful. Drag can even look successful locally.

The difference appears downstream.

Drag spends the future to sustain the present.

03The field doesn’t read costumes

Save the child.

Life continues. Relationships remain possible. Future actions remain possible. An existing structure retains the capacity to continue.

Forward

Murder the child.

That structure terminates. States dependent upon its continuation disappear.

Drag

But what if that person will kill ten children?

Now zoom out.

The action alone was never sufficient.

The node is not the field. Direction is relational.

You must follow what the structure makes probable and what consequences emerge across the containing field.

04Then morality appears

Forward

↓

Good

Drag

↓

Evil

Humans eventually gave moral language to these relations.

Structures that preserve, restore, protect, coordinate, and build viable continuation tend to cast the human moral shadow: good.

Structures that destroy, fragment, exploit, consume, and collapse supporting conditions tend to cast: evil.

But the moral label is downstream. Something can look good locally while producing Drag downstream.

Good is Forward’s human shadow.
Evil is Drag’s human shadow.

Follow the consequence.

05Mass is not Direction

FORCE = MASS × DIRECTION

  1. Stone
  2. Human
  3. Company
  4. Government
  5. AI

Greater capability does not guarantee better Direction.

It amplifies whatever Direction is already operating.

SMALL MASS × 2° ERRORsmall deviationHUGE MASS × 2° ERRORenormous deviation

The heavier the structure, the more every degree matters.

06Why this matters now

↑

Human frame

slow update

↑↑↑↑↑

Technological capacity

rapid acceleration

Humanity’s capacity has increased faster than its ability to measure Direction.

We can move more money. Reach more people. Generate more information. Automate more decisions. Build more powerful machines. Alter larger systems.

Mass increased. The question of Direction became more consequential with it.

More power does not fix low resolution.

A low-resolution actor with low Mass creates limited consequences.

A low-resolution actor connected to civilization-scale technology can propagate error at civilization scale.

07Your resolution must match your reality

Old resolution

  • good / bad
  • left / right
  • us / them
  • leader / enemy
  • intention / blame

Structural resolution

  • structure
  • relation
  • mass
  • direction
  • probability
  • consequence
  • Forward / Drag

Human stories are not necessarily useless.

They’re simply insufficient when the systems those stories govern operate at far greater resolution.

You cannot safely govern AI, global markets, information networks, biotechnology, governments, and civilization-scale infrastructure using only the resolution of tribe, narrative, intention, and identity.

The resolution of the observer must match the resolution of what it can move.

  1. Cosmos
  2. Matter
  3. Life
  4. Consciousness
  5. Civilization
  6. AI
  7. ?

Reality did not begin when man became conscious of it.

And it does not stop at the stories man uses to describe it.

PrF asks one question beneath them:

What is this structure doing to the field?

Forward?

or

Drag?

Mass tells you how much can move.

Direction tells you where.

Consequence tells you what Reality received.
